"The Laramie Project" brings message of acceptance to MC audiences

Maryville College theater presented “The Laramie Project” Oct. 6-9 in the Haslam Family Flexible Theater at the Clayton Center for the Arts. Free to MC students, the play drew a sold-out audience the night of its premier.

On Oct. 8, Mary Cunningham and Laura Greeley settled down on the hood of Greeley’s car hoping to catch some of Reba McIntire’s Foothills Fall Festival performance from the Greenbelt stage. However, at approximately 9:30 p.m., their concert experience was interrupted when the girls heard a noise and witnessed a man with a crowbar across the parking lot.

Danny Thomas, the founder of St. Jude Children’s Hospital, had a vision of creating a place devoted to curing children with diseases. St. Jude is the first institution established for the sole purpose of conducting basic and clinical research and treatment of terminal childhood disease.
